Conocer la obra de León es entrar a un mundo fantástico y divertido donde el tema principal es la expresión humana misma, con todos sus sentimientos y desnudeces reflejados en infinidad de rostros producto de la imaginación y la creatividad,  trabajados con una  sencillez exquisita. Sus personajes reflejan infinidad de emociones, que desbordan espiritualidad, alegría, ternura o reflexión. Es admirable la libertad con la que utiliza el color y diversos materiales, los cuales aplica algunas veces con divertida desenvoltura, utilizando incluso fosforescencias y brillos; en otras predominan la seriedad y respeto que le ha dado el tiempo al confrontar día a día al lienzo, pero con resultados en que casi siempre emerge la alegría, y los caracteriza el positivismo. Sus personajes, en apariencia estáticos, se contraponen al movimiento que genera la energía espiritual implícita en su obra. Podríamos ahondar más en su pintura pero sólo necesitamos disfrutarla, ya que sus múltiples personajes, en donde estén, se encargarán de decirnos… son de León Alva. Esto es  el resultado de alcanzar la genialidad que sólo se logra con muchos años de búsqueda, trabajando y experimentando con materiales diversos y jugando con la imaginación.

Y si sus personajes son fantásticos, los que tenemos la suerte de conocerlo y tratarlo sabemos que, como persona y amigo, es un ser aún más fantástico. To know the work by Leon is to enter a fantastic and amusing world where the main theme is that of human expression itself, with all its sentiments and nudities reflected in countless faces, a product of imagination and creativity. These works denote an exquisite simplicity. His characters reflect an infinite amount of emotions that overflow with spirituality, joy, tenderness or reflection. It is admirable to see the freedom with which he uses color and different materials, which he applies sometimes with joyful abandonment, even using fluorescents and glitter. In other pieces, sobriety and respect, product of his day to day confrontation with his canvases, predominate, but with results that are almost always ushered by joy and characterized by an inherent positivity. His characters, apparently static, exist in juxtaposition with the motion generated by the spiritual energy implied in his work. We could delve deeper into his paintings, but we need only enjoy them, as his many characters, wherever they may be, will tell us that they belong to Leon Alva.

This is the result of achieving the kind of warmth possible only after years of searching, working and experimenting with different materials, and playing with his imagination. And yes, his characters are fantastic, and those of us who have the good fortune to know him, know that as a person and as a friend, he is even a more fantastic being.
